Izmest’eva Scientific Research Institute of Biology at Irkutsk State University, Irkutsk, Russia PHYTOPLANKTON SEDIMENTATION IN THE SOUTHERN BAIKAL AT SUMMER Phytoplankton species composition and number, chlorophyll a content in open water and sedi-mentation trap sediments are discussed. Chlorophyll a sedimentation rates varied from 0,12 to 0,40 mg м-2 day-1 and do not exceed 2 % from chlorophyll a content in photic zone.
