In August 2010, Summer International School “Ecology of Large Water Bodies and Their Watershed» will be held on the shore of Lake Baikal. Russian and German students, postgraduates and teachers traditionally take part in such events organized alternately by REC “Baikal” and Christian Albrecht University (Kiel, Germany) on the coasts of Lake Baikal and the North Sea within the framework of the bilateral agreement between Irkutsk State University and German University.

Paper by REC Baikal members Dr. Eugene Silow, Pr. Res. Fellow of Institute of Biology, Professor of UNESCO Chair and Andrew Mokry, Jr. res. Fellow of the Institute appeared in international journal "Entropy", edited by Molecular Diversity Preservation International (MDPI), with the editorial board including 8 Nobel Laureates.
