Maximova Scientific Research Institute of Biology at Irkutsk State University, Irkutsk, Russia ACTIVITY OF MICROBIAL COMMUNITIES OF SOUTHERN BAIKAL IN ANNUAL CYCLES ACCORDING TO THE DATA OF 14C– ANALYSES Judging by bacterial production data, measured with the use of 14C–method, we can conclude bi-otic community of the lake to be in homeostatic state. Bacteria fulfill the role of stabilizer being an transferring centre between primary producers and allochtonous compounds from the one side and autochtonous consumers from the another.
