Pislegina Scientific Research Institute of Biology at Irkutsk State University, Irkutsk, Russia THE PECULIARITIES OF EPISCHURA BAICALENSIS SARS POPULATION STATE ASSESSMENT DURING ECOLOGICAL MONITORING OF THE LAKE BAIKAL Analysis of data on abundance of Epischura baicalensis Sars in the depth layers 0–50, 0–250 and 0–500 m demonstrated that the data for 0–250 m reflect the state of the epischura population better than data for 0–50 m, and they are less variable. The catching of epischura from the water column of 0–250 m is preferable for monitoring as easier than 0–500 m and more informative than 0–50 m.
