II International Scientific School for youth “Ecology of Large Water Bodies and Their Basins” was held on September 13-18 with the participation of REC “Baikal”. In 2011, the School was dedicated to the memory of Olga Kozhova, Professor, Honoured Scientist, who was 80 years this year.

On April 7, at the enlarged meeting of the REC “Baikal” workshop Vladimir Karnakov, Head of the ISU Scientific Research Center, discussed the problems concerning the organization and activity of small-scale innovation enterprises established by universities within the framework of the Federal Law 217 (FL-217). Another issue considered at this workshop was preparation for the annual International Conference of Research-Educational Centers Pan-REC. In 2011, the Baikal Center will be the host of this large-scale event.

Representatives of Christian Albrecht University (Kiel, Germany) Andreas Ritter, Deputy Chief of the International Center, and Manfred Bölter, Professor, Dr., were on a visit to Irkutsk State University from 13 to 16 February. German colleagues came to Irkutsk to participate in the Conference devoted to preparation and introduction a uniform MA course at ISU and Kiel University with a specialization in “Environmental Management”. Twenty years have passed since Christian Albrecht University and Irkutsk State University established partner relations. This time REC “Baikal” will be responsible for the realization of the joint project as the relationships correspond to the main scientific theme of REC “Baikal”.
