On January 29, REC “Baikal” Communication Center held final competition among young researchers wishing to improve their language skills at free course of REC “Baikal” English Club. The jury was represented by Alexander Arguchintsev, Executive Director of REC “Baikal”, Andrey Mantsivoda, Head of REC International Relation Component, Galina Nagornaya, Senior Teacher of English at International Institute of Economics and Linguistics (ISU), Evgeny Zilov, Principal Research Scientist of Scientific Research Institute of Biology at ISU, and Nataliya Sirina, REC Vice Coordinator.

According to the competition requirements, scientific activity of all the applicants (ISU young researchers) should correspond to REC “Baikal” scientific activity. As a result, the commission selected 11 students, postgraduates and doctors from ISU Departments of Geography, Biology and Soil, Geology, and History, Scientific Research Institutes of Biology and Applied Physics at ISU, and Limnological Institute SB RAS. They are Denis Aksenov-Gribanov, Bictor Bybin, Marianna Kolotygina, Svetlana Yakovleva, Marina Tsydypova, Anna Khenkina, Marina Tyagun, Elena Sapozhnikova, Alexey Pankov, Vasily Pavlichenko, and Valentina Novoseltseva.
Courses will start their work on February 10. After finishing these courses, the best students will be able to have in-depth language training at a summer school which is organized with the assistance of the American Program “Fundamental Research and Higher Education” involving professional teachers from America.
