On idea of formation of research educational centers in Russia
– I think this is a productive idea. In Germany, the principle of interaction between education and science has been working for a long time, and I think that it is also very important for Russia – to apply recent scientific achievements to teaching students.
On possibilities of cooperation
– The aim of my visit is to share experience of the activity of our society and to get to know the work of REC “Baikal”, as well as to discuss possibilities of future partnership. At the symposium, I represent the program on support of German-Russian scientific cooperation. I am listening to presentations of the participants with great attention. I have got very good impressions not only due to Lake Baikal, but also to the high level of presentations and the role of young researchers. This is a really impressive day. I would like to add that German representatives of science are interested in joint projects with Russian colleagues. First, regional centers such as Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, Ekaterinburg, Vladivostok, and Kasan are ready to international cooperation, and second, they have a very high level of science.
On Lake Baikal
– This is already my third visit to Lake Baikal: twice – as a business trip, and once – as a tourist, and each time it is for my soul.
