The regular International Summer School “Ecology of Large Water Bodies and Their Watershed” was held 16-26 August 2010 at the biological station on lake Baikal. Traditionally, as well as Research-Educational Center “Baikal”, the School’s organizer was Christian-Albrecht University (Germany), which has been being the partner of Irkutsk State University for many years.

Paper by REC Baikal members Dr. Eugene Silow, Pr. Res. Fellow of Institute of Biology, Professor of UNESCO Chair and Andrew Mokry, Jr. res. Fellow of the Institute appeared in international journal "Entropy", edited by Molecular Diversity Preservation International (MDPI), with the editorial board including 8 Nobel Laureates.

At the REC “Baikal” Workshop held on 18 February 2010, REC representatives and Dr. Wilhelm Windhorst form Christian Albrecht University (Kiel, Germany) discussed a concept and plan of the Summer International School that would be held on Lake Baikal in August this year.
